Webcasts

Webcasts are a popular choice for families who either have friends and family who won’t be able to say ‘goodbye’ in person, or who want to be able to review the service again with a copy on DVD or USB. The funeral is captured by a single camera discreetly located at the back of the chapel and is available to view live online.

There are three options available:

Live webcast

A Webcast from a single camera discreetly located at the back of the chapel, viewed live online via our easy-to-use, password-protected website. This is a live viewing and is only available at the time of the service.

28-day Watch Again

Optionally, the Live Webcast can also be watched again on the Obitus website for a further 28 days after the funeral. This can be ordered at the same time as the live webcast if you wish or, after the service has taken place.  It is important to note that the 28-day Watch Again must be ordered within 28 days of the funeral taking place otherwise it may not be available.

Webcast DVD or USB

A higher-quality recording of the Webcast supplied on a DVD or USB, in a customised presentation case, for those who want to be able to review the service again.

Please note, this must be ordered within 28 days of the funeral service taking place otherwise it may not be available after that time.

Ordering process

All the media services are ordered through your Funeral Director, they will be able to explain the options for you.

For Live Webcasts and 28-day Watch Again a username and password for their website will be emailed to you to forward onto other members of your family or to friends that are unable to attend. It can take up to 2 working days after the funeral for Obitus to get the 28 day Watch Again back on the website.

For DVDs it can take up to 21 working days after the funeral for Obitus to edit and send it via Royal Mail. Soon after it will be available for you or the family to collect from the crematorium or your funeral director.

Other questions:

Timelines | We always recommend ordering well in advance of the funeral. For Live Webcasts in particular families will need time to share the username and password around. Our system is usually recording, so we can often supply both DVDs and 28 day Watch Again if ordered within a month after the funeral.

Compatible devices | Anyone with an up-to-date computer, tablet or smartphone and a good internet connection will be able to watch the Live Webcast and 28-day Watch Again.

Important note:

YouTube | YouTube is a great resource for listening to music but is not a legal source of music for our library, so therefore, we cannot use tracks from this source. It should also be noted that some tracks on YouTube have never been commercially released by the artist and is therefore not available for purchase and addition to our library.
